Our office believes that we have a responsibility to our planet to do what we
can to protect it. We are committed to doing our part.
- We have installed an amalgam separator that collects mercury from the
vacuum system, preventing mercury from contaminating the water system.
Although we do not place silver fillings, mercury enters our vacuum system
when old silver fillings are removed from teeth.
- We use recycled office paper products whenever possible, including our
copy paper, recall postcards, post it notes, etc.
- Phasing out of plastic barriers, replacing them with more
environmentally friendly fabric covers for headrests, light handles, and
patient bibs.
- We have started a recycling program in the office.
- We use "green" cleaning products
- Organic coffee for the patient waiting area.
- Digital XRays : Not only does this system allow for a lower dosage of
radiation to the patient, it eliminates the use of toxic developing and
fixing solutions.
- We use only local labs that do not ship the work overseas
- Green power: Dewey Dental purchases renewable wind power credits equal
to 100% of the energy used in our office. This not only helps create a
renewable energy source but it also supports rural communities in which
generating wind power is a new source of revenue. Visit
www.greenpoweroregon.com for more information.
- Fluorescent lighting where possible
Energy Incentive:
During the fall/winter of 2008 (October, November, December), present your PGE energy
bill showing your residential or business use of “Clean energy” through PGE, and
we will provide a 5% discount for services during the fall to your whole family.
Feel better about the environment, as well as your dental health!
